Portage Potato Festival

The winter blues have set in. Leaving bed is a chore and Netflix is the closest contact you’ve had to people in the last week. Maybe it’s time to get back out into the fresh air, just for the night. It’s time to celebrate the second annual Portage Potato Festival. This event is a way to get out of the house for the night and reunite with the Portage la Prairie community. Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you can’t have an enjoyable night out! This is the perfect chance to shake off those winter blues with music, dancing and more!

The second annual Portage Potato Festival: Cabin Fever Reliever will be taking place Saturday February 14, 2015. It is being held at the Herman Prior Centre located at 40 Royal Road North, Portage la Prairie. The event will starts 8 p.m. and will go until 1 a.m. There will be a DJ, cash bar, silent auction and more for just $10 a ticket. Tickets can be purchased at Setsetera Studio of Design or Schapansky’s Florist. Last year, the event sold out so it’s important to get tickets as soon as possible! All the money raised goes back into the festival operating costs.

If you miss the Cabin Fever Reliever, don’t worry! There is also a summer festival to look forward to. It has taken place every August for the past 11 years. The whole idea of having different potato festivals came from a request that the city council made to the chamber of commerce. They wanted a fun community event to take place in August and then that evolved into also having one in February. Since Portage la Prairie is known for producing potatoes in the Central Plains.

If you are interested in participating in this year’s Portage Potato Festival: Cabin Fever Reliever, buy your tickets today! It is a great way to get up and enjoy yourself despite the cold weather. Another great way to get rid of the winter blues is by buying a new vehicle from Craig Dunn Motor City. We have a variety of Chevy, Buick and GMC models for local drivers to choose from. Schedule a test drive today and say goodbye to those cold weather blues.
