Chevy Vehicles with an Available Android Auto Update

Most Chevy vehicles of the 2016 model year that came with the eight-inch MyLink system will be able to update to Android Auto. Vehicles with the seven-inch screen were already equipped with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. New 2016 model year vehicles arriving at Craig Dunn in the coming months will come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay already installed.

Current Canadian owners of a 2016 Buick Regal or 2016 Buick LaCrosse with an eight-inch IntelliLink system should qualify for the Android Auto update. Select 2015 models may also be eligible. If your vehicle can be updated, you will be contacted with that information, and can have the update done at a certified Buick dealer. New 2017 models like the 2017 LaCrosse will come equipped with compatibility to both systems.

GMC Android Auto Updates

The 2016 GMC Canyon, Sierra, and Yukon equipped with the eight-inch touchscreen may be updated in Canada to be compatible with Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay. This update should take about 30 minutes at an official GMC dealer. The new 2017 GMC Acadia will come with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay pre-installed in models with IntelliLink.

Buick LaCrosse and Encore Take Top Dependability Honors

The Buick Verano was not the only Buick vehicle to take top honors. The Buick LaCrosse was also recognized at the top of its Large Car segment, and in the Small SUV segment of this J.D. Powers study the Buick Encore also took the lead. This is the third recognition award for the 2013 Buick Encore coming from J.D. Powers. Previously it has received awards in the Initial Quality Study and the Automotive Performance Execution and Layout Study for the Sub-Compact CUV segment.

Overall, the Buick brand took third overall for dependability, beat out only by luxury nameplates like Lexus and Porsche. The GMC and Chevrolet brands also performed favorably in this study, ranking in the top ten of all brands for overall quality. 2018 Buick Enclave debuted at New York International Auto Show

The 2018 Buick Enclave is set to be released in Canada this fall, and after seeing the features and specs that will be offered, we have to say that it’ll be worth the wait. The Enclave received a slight exterior redesign for the 2018 model year. Styling improvements include a lower roofline, sharper windshield and extended wheelbase, which will improve aerodynamic efficiency.

2018 Buick Enclave features and specs

The 2018 Buick Enclave will be powered by a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine that will generated an estimated 302 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The engine will be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and the powerful engine will allow the 2018 Enclave to tow up to 5,000 pounds. Standard features for all trim levels will include Push Button Start, keyless entry, a hands-free power liftgate, tri-zone automatic climate control, an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, six USB ports and a universal home remote.

2017 Buick LaCrosse new grille

For now, the elegant new dark waterfall grille (pictured at the top of this blog) is the only feature that we’re certain about. Featuring a new multi-coloured, three-shield Buick insignia fixed on a sweeping element that spans the entire width of the grille, this new design prefigures new styling changes coming on future Buick vehicles. This grille style was inspired by the 1954 Wildcat II concept, and first revealed on the 2015 Avenir concept. It will be universally adapted by all Buick models by 2018.

Is it possible that the 2017 Buick LaCrosse will take other design clues from the stylish and sinuous 2015 Buick Avenir concept vehicle? No one here at Craig Dunn can say for sure until the end of November and the big reveal, but given the elegant look and premium materials that were featured in that concept (pictured below), we’d be really excited for the future of the LaCrosse if that was the case.

Scheduled to go on sale across Canada this summer, the 2017 Buick Enclave Sport Touring Edition will be available on Leather and Premium trim levels, and in White Frost Tricoat, Crimson Red Metallic and Ebony Twilight Metallic exterior colours. This model will be laden with features, much like the 2016 Buick Encore Sport Touring Edition, and sport specific exterior styling accents.

The unique grille on the 2017 Enclave Sport Touring Edition is one of the vehicle’s special exterior accents. In contrast to other Buick vehicles with new tri-colored brand badging, this grille has a silver and black Buick shield and Satin Black Ice accents. This Sport Touring Edition also rides on 20-inch chrome-covered wheels with Black Satin Ice accents.

“The industry doesn’t have many success stories better than the Buick Enclave,” said Mike Speranzini, brand director, Buick in Canada, in a Buick press release. “It has created a new generation of Buick customers and delivered on their expectations again and again. The Sport Touring Edition is a great update for our flagship crossover SUV as the Buick family continues to grow this year.”

We mentioned earlier that Buick recently made the Consumer Reports’ top 10 automotive brands, and now Buick is being recognized again. This time, Consumer Reports awarded the Buick Regal top sports sedan. This is another huge boost to the Buick brand. They are proving that they are getting better and better at making vehicles that appeal to a variety of drivers.

It is rare for an American car to win the category of beat sports sedan, but the Buick Regal has impressed drivers as well as Consumer Reports. The Buick Regal has impressive capabilities combined with innovative safety and technology features and high quality comfort and design. It comes standard with a 2.0L engine that provides 259 horsepower and available all-wheel-drive. Avenir Luxury Sub-Brand Release Date

We don’t yet have a solid release date for the Avenir luxury sub-brand but several sources have marked it as a 2018 model year vehicle. Whether that means a release date in the early- to mid-2017 year (like the 2018 Chevy Equinox), or something closer to the start of the 2018 calendar year, it’s hard to say.

This sub-brand will be the top-of-the-line option for customers looking for premium Buick quality. Like the Denali brand on GMC trucks and SUVs, the Avenir will offer customers a new level of luxury.

What Can You Expect on an Avenir Luxury Vehicle?

The Avenir sub-brand will offer unique appearance and luxury touches like a three-dimensional mesh grille, larger wheels, a sculpted elegant design and a new level of interior luxury.

The 2018 Buick Regal GS is expected to arrive at Canadian dealerships beginning in February of 2018. The first award that the Avista took was the EyesOn Design Award for Design Excellent in the Concept Car segment at NAIAS. This was the second time that in a row that Buick has taken home the EyesOn Design Award for a concept vehicle. The first time was for the striking Avenir, which debuted last year at NAIAS.

Buick Avista Named Best Future Concept

In addition to impressing the judges at NAIAS, the Buick Avista also impressed standard car enthusiasts. It took the Detroit News’ Reader’s Choice award for “Best Future Concept.”

In a Buick press release, Bryan Nesbitt, executive director of global Buick design, said that that this people’s choice award was especially valuable. “Because Avista represents the future essence of Buick design,” he said in a recent Buick press release, “an award decided by consumers is a great vote of confidence.”

The previous Buick Avenir concept car brought visual concepts that migrated into other cars like the 2017 Buick LaCrosse. We can’t wait to find out what parts of the Buick Avista will transfer into future Buick vehicles.

Every year different ratings are released from various sources. Each year automotive companies work hard to get noticed by these influential publications. One of these lists is presented by the Consumer Reports’ Brand Report Card. This list is made up of the top 10 automotive brands on the market which means making the list is quite competitive. This year Buick enters the Consumer Reports’ Top 10 Brands at position 7.

This is the first time a domestic brand has made it into the top 10 of Consumer Reports’ annual Car Brand Report Card. It even jumped over Honda and BMW for the first time. Buick has been working hard to appeal to a younger audience of drivers, and it’s working to make Buick more popular than ever. Buick even revealed some new models in the last year such including the Buick Cascada convertible and Avenir luxury concept sedan. These new models are creating even more buzz about the Buick brand.

Consumer Reports is a highly respected publication and has been a credible source of information for decades. It has started recognizing Buick as a top 10 automotive brand thanks to everything Buick has accomplished in the past year. Buick has increased its sales significantly, especially with younger drivers. The magazine evaluated 270 vehicles as part of the Brand Report Card. While the 2016 Buick Envision hasn’t even arrived at our dealership yet, we already have an estimated 2017 Buick Envision release date! While this has been very quiet, we have a first idea of when we can expect this excellent midsize SUV crossover for the 2017 model year. We’ve also learned more about the Buick Envision trim levels.

2017 Buick Envision Release Date

While the 2016 model should be arriving in our new Buick inventory any day now, the 2017 Buick Envision is anticipated sometime in fall of this year. We’re not anticipating many huge changes between the two model years. The 2016 Buick Envision will be a new model in North America, and comes loaded with tons of excellent technology and safety features.

Trim Levels on the Buick Envision in North America

In North America, the luxurious Envision is starting out with just two trim levels: Premium and Premium II. Both of these models will come loaded with luxury features, quiet-cabin technology, and excellent performance.

For the 2017 Buick Envision, it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more trim levels, and a lot more flexibility on price. We’re not completely sure how these trims, features, and pricing will transfer to our Canadian models yet, but it looks like we may be able to look forward to the 2017 model being available in base Envision, Preferred, Essence, Premium, and Premium II levels. While those two top trims will carry over, the lower levels will offer SUV owners and busy families many of the safety and convenience features of the new Envision at a lower price.

Again, this is information for North America in general, not Canada or Manitoba specifically, but it looks like even the base trims will come with a rearview camera, Active Noise Cancellation technology, automatic climate control, heated front seats, remote start and rear parking assist, just to name a few of the top features.

2016 Buick Envision Makes Its Canadian Debut with New Technology Features

When you think of Buick, maybe the first thing that springs to mind is smooth driving, a spacious interior, and top luxury features like you would see in the upcoming 2016 Buick Envision. But did you know that Buick has a history of taking significant honors on the race track? For this Flashback Friday we’re going to take a look at the impressive Buick early racing heritage and the dedication to top performance that the brand has maintained to this day.

Founded in 1899 by David Buick, the company wasted no time developing some of the best vehicles on the road. By the time the Buick Motor Company teamed up with R. S. McLaughlin to branch the brand into Canada in 1907, they were the most-sold brand in North America.

Buick Race Cars at the Indy

Just a couple years later in 1909, a Buick race car won at the first race at the 2.5-mile (4 km) Indianapolis Motor Speedway, two years before the first Indianapolis 500. Driven by Bob Burnam (and averaging more than 85 kilometres per hour), that Buick raced car (pictured to the right) won the Prest-O-Lite Trophy and was one of only nine vehicles that successfully completed the race. A third of them were Buicks.

Buick 60 Special Bug of 1910

Just few years later the art of racing had been transformed. The 1910 Buick 60 Special “Bug” (pictured at the top of this post) had a giant 10.2-litre four-cylinder engine and an aluminum body designed for optimal speed (though the blunted nosecone may have been more for style than because of any scientific principles of aerodynamic design). Two 60 Specials were built: one for Bob Burnam and a second for Louis Chevrolet, who would found the Chevrolet Motor Car Company in 1911.

In 1909 Bob Burnam won at less than 100 kilometres per hour. In 1911, he broke a speed record with the Buick 60 Special Bug averaging just shy of 150 kilometers per hour (91 miles per hour).

Today, performance optimized vehicles like the GS model of the 2016 Buick Regal can reach speeds of more than 240 kilometres per hour, and maintain a quiet, comfortable cabin with excellent handling at the same time. What’s New on the 2017 Buick LaCrosse?

New features on the 2017 Buick LaCrosse go far beyond the external. The 2017 model will weigh in at 136 kilograms lighter than its predecessor, thanks in part to advances in lighter sound-absorbing material and lighter-stronger steel in the frame.

In addition to acceleration and power savings thanks to that decreased weight, the 2017 Buick LaCrosse will get a new eight-speed automatic transmission matched to the second-generation 3.6-liter V6. Stop-start technology will come standard with this powertrain, and a Continuous Dampening Control active suspension will allow drivers to select Touring and Sport modes for an even more precise driving experience.

The 2017 Buick LaCrosse will also feature multiple new safety sensing features like the technology coming on the new Envision. Some of these include lane keeping assist, lane changing alert with blind spot assistance, parking assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic forward braking, forward collision alerts, and front pedestrian braking, which can, in some situations, automatically stop the car before hitting a person walking across the street.

The sleek and award-winning Avenir concept will also be on display at the Toronto Auto Show, along with the new 2016 Buick Envision.

Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Verano to have Sport Touring models for 2016

The Buick Encore is a stylish compact SUV that seats five and delivers on luxury features generally not seen outside of a larger SUV. We have the 2017 Buick Encore Canadian release date, and a sneak peek of some of the great features that are now standard in this maneuverable and luxurious Buick crossover.

2017 Buick Encore Canadian Release Date

Going on sale this fall in Canada and across North America, the 2017 Buick Encore will initially be available in five trim levels. Each model will come standard with front-wheel drive across the board, but all-wheel drive will be available as well. Trim levels will be base Encore (1SB), Sport Touring (1SH), Convenience (1SD), Leather (1SL) and Premium (1SN).

New Standard Features on the 2017 Encore

The 2016 Buick Encore is available with great standard features, but the 2017 model is upping the ante. An eight-inch colour touchscreen will now be standard, as well as keyless entry and ignition. Encore drivers will be able to enter their vehicle without needing to fumble with keys, as long as the keys are on their person. The ability to become a Wi-Fi hotspot should also be available in all models, and standard QuietTuning and Bose Noise Cancellation technology means less cabin noise from the road or engine.

Other exciting new features on the 2017 Buick Encore include:

• Refined front design with Buick’s new three-colour insignia
• Available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
• Enhanced front headlights and rear LED signature taillights
• Exterior colours: Black Cherry Metallic, Ebony Twilight Metallic and White Frost Metallic

The standard powertrain on the 2017 Buick Encore will be a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine offers a GM-estimated fuel consumption rating of 9.5 L/100km in city driving and 7.2 L/100km on the highway. An advanced, fuel-efficient turbo engine is also available on most trims. It should offer 8.5 L/100km city and 6.9 L/100km highway.

We’ve long been in love with the luxury and standard features of our Buick SUVs like the small five-passenger Encore and the up-to-eight seat Enclave, and now we’re going to be getting a new midsize SUV to satisfy Buick lovers who have wanted a little more space without sacrificing comfort and sophistication.

2016 Buick Envision Release Date

The new 2016 Buick Envision release date in Canada is summer 2016. While a version of this vehicle has previously been release in Asia, this will make for its North American debut and we could not be more excited about the great features and luxuries that have been teased for this new mid-size SUV.

Knowing Buicks, and getting a gander at the interior above, we can say with confidence that this SUV is going to offer top comfort with a technologically sophisticated package. The seats promise to have available heating and cooling features, as well as sliding and reclining options for optimal driver and passenger comfort. Powertrain possibilities on the 2016 Buick Envision

We don’t know a ton yet about the powertrain and capability of this new SUV, but we do know that it will be available with all-wheel drive for greater stability in all weather and road conditions. The Asian release of the Envision was available with a turbocharged Ecotec engine rated for 256 horsepower. That powertrain also featured direct fuel injection and start-stop technology for an SUV with top fuel economy. Keep checking this spot for confirmation on what will be coming to North America.

While we have no guarantees on the engine yet, we do know that the 2016 Buick Envision will be available with the latest in driver awareness technology. We’ve already mentioned the surround view camera, but we also know that automatic parking assist will be available, as well as adaptive cruise control and collision mitigating braking.

In every way, this 2016 Buick Envision looks like it’s going to be a fantastic midsize luxury crossover SUV and we can’t wait to see even more about the great features it will have.
