How inflated should my 2017 GMC Sierra’s tires be?

To find your vehicle’s recommended tire pressures, you’re going to want to check out the Tire Information Label, which is located on the inside of your Sierra 1500’s driver’s-side doorframe. If you can’t find the label or are looking for the information on-the-go, we’ve got you covered. Depending on the type of tires your 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 came equipped with, you are either going to want to have your tires filled to 35 psi or 45 psi. Again, for more specific information to your vehicle and tires, check out the Tire Information Label on your 2017 Sierra 1500.

Although the 2017 GMC Sierra comes standard with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System, it’s a good practice to manually check your tire inflation once a month. Driving with underinflated or overinflated tires can cause a blowout, reduced fuel economy, a rough ride, or danger to others on the road, so investing in a quality pocket gauge to manually check your tire pressure is always recommended by our team at Craig Dunn Motor City.

How far can Chevy vehicles go on empty?

The vast majority of us have had the gas light in their vehicle turn on at one point or another. It’s fairly common, and although it isn’t necessarily healthy for your car, it happens to the best of us. Before you start worrying that your car is going to run out of gas and leave you stranded on the side of the road, just remember that your gas light turned on to alert you that you need gas soon, not at that exact second. You have a few miles to get to a gas station before completely running out of a fuel. Wondering how far a Chevy can run on empty? Keep reading to find out!

Driving a Chevy on empty

Seeing your gas light turn on can be startling if you weren’t paying close attention to your fuel gauge, but before you panic, keep in mind that your vehicle isn’t going to immediately run out of gas. Although it’s certainly not ideal to continue driving while your gas light is on, sometimes you aren’t near a gas station and have no other choice. If you own a Chevy, take a look at the chart below to see approximately how far you can continue driving before your vehicle completely runs out of fuel.

Sudden Loss of Engine Power? We Might Have An Answer

Why Is My Chevy Silverado Losing Power?

While generally the Chevy Silverado is a premium, reliable truck, there are times when even the best vehicles can end up having problems. If you’ve ever had your Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra suddenly lose power, you may be wondering exactly what is going on with your truck. Keep reading to find at least one possible answer to “Why is my Chevy Silverado losing power?”

Read More: How Can You Tell If Your Pickup Is Overloaded?

If your GM truck occasionally loses the ability to accelerate and warns you of reduced engine power, that could be caused by a faulty throttle body. While not common, this issue can interfere with your engine function and cause your vehicle to lose power anywhere from once in a while to several times in a day. When given a digital diagnostic, the vehicle scan will tell you there is an issue with the throttle body. This is a sign that your truck’s throttle body should be replaced.
A damaged throttle body from a car may cause a loss of engine power

What is a Throttle Body?

A throttle body is a butterfly valve in between the intake manifold and the air intake filter. Connected to the gas pedal, it is responsible for making sure that there is enough air entering your engine to meeting driving and accelerating demands. It works together with the Engine Control Unit to balance the right mix of air and fuel in your engine for the best power and performance.

When the throttle body is dirty, damaged, or just not receiving the right signals, airflow can be cut off to your engine. Without air, your engine cannot run and will stall out. This can be a serious issue, but fortunately it is not a hard one to fix. Simply replacing the throttle body should resolve the issue. Make your appointment online today at Craig Dunn Motor City near Winnipeg MB if you are having engine issues with your truck, and we will do our best to get you back on the road and good as new.

If you are concerned about mechanical issues with the new 2016 Chevy Silverado, remember that the complimentary Chevrolet Complete Care program comes standard with every new Chevy. That means that basic repairs and any freak mechanical errors will be covered for up to five years at low or minimal cost to you.

Why is my oil light still on after an oil change?

You never want to ignore an illuminated dashboard warning light, especially if it stays on after you have already taken action to fix the problem. There are a variety of reasons your oil light may stay illuminated even after an oil change, and it’s important to be aware of possible causes. Read on for details!

You might also be interested in: How to reset the TPMS light in your Chevy

Causes of a flickering oil light

If your oil light stays on even after changing your engine oil, you’re going to want to check the sensor first to rule out a malfunctioning sensor as the cause. Dirt and other particles can make their way into the oil pump, causing the sensor to falsely identify oil issues. Replacing the sensor is fairly simple, but if you don’t feel comfortable replacing the part yourself, bring your vehicle into a certified technician. The next common cause is low oil pressure. If the oil pressure is below 5 pounds per square inch, your oil light will illuminate. Although this shouldn’t happen after receiving an oil change, you’re still going to want to check the oil level just to be sure.

The final common cause of an illuminated oil light, even after an oil change, is probably the most problematic. The oil pump may not be circulating enough oil to keep the engine’s parts lubricated and functioning properly, which can in turn cause multiple engine issues. Although receiving oil changes at regular intervals should prevent this problem from occurring, parts do wear over time.

What is the difference in cabin size for trucks?

Crew Cab vs Double Cab

We know that some folks who are searching for a new truck have some questions about the vocabulary used to describe features within truck models. We are here to help and a common question we hear about is the difference between a Crew Cab and a Double Cab. We will compare the Crew Cab vs Double Cab so shoppers can better understand what type of vehicle they want.

READ MORE: 2018 Chevy Silverado LT vs 2018 Chevy Silverado LTZ

Differences

The primary difference between a Crew Cab and a Double Cab is the size. The Double Cab, also known as an Extended Cab, is actually smaller than the Crew Cab. The Double Cab is tighter and the Crew Cab gives ample room for passengers or extra luggage and gear you need to bring along. Now that you know the difference between the two, we’ll tell you what each size is recommended for your needs.

Recommendations

When it comes to choosing a new vehicle, choosing the right cabin size can mean a lot. If you do not need to fit that many people into your vehicle, the Double Cab is a nice choice. If you need more space for passengers or cargo, the Crew Cab is the better choice. There are also other factors to take in that do not have to do with cabin size that also matter when purchasing a new vehicle, but this is a good start.

  4. Use the J-46079 Tire Pressure Monitor Tester on the left front tire, holding the antennae to the valve stem, and press the active button. Wait about 10 seconds, and you will hear a horn chirp. Repeat this step for the other three tires in this order: right front tire, right rear tire, left rear tire.
  5. Once you’ve retrained the left rear sensor, turn the key in the ignition to the off position.
  6. Adjust all tires to the recommended PSI. The recommended PSI can be found inside the driver’s side door or in your owner’s manual.
