The 2018 Chevy Equinox will come standard with a variety of great features that cost extra on most competitors. Drivers will stay entertained, connected and comfortable with the 2018 Equinox’s standard Remote Start, Push Button Start, 7-inch touchscreen MyLink display, rearview camera, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi, heated front seats and Teen Driver technology.

2018 Chevy Equinox engine options

The 2018 Chevy Equinox will have three turbocharged engine options: the standard 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, the available 2.0-liter Turbo engine and a segment-first diesel engine. The 2.0-liter Turbo engine and the diesel engine will be available on the 2018 Equinox beginning in the second quarter of 2017, while the standard 1.5-liter turbocharged engine will be available upon the vehicle’s release.

2018 Buick Regal GS features and specifications

The 2018 Buick Regal GS is expected to arrive at Canadian dealerships beginning in February of 2018. The vehicle will feature a more refined transmission, AWD technology, heated and cooled front seats, and a five-door practical hatchback design. Additionally, the vehicle’s new 3.6-liter V6 engine will produce 310 horsepower and 282 pound-feet of torque, which is 51 extra ponies from the previous model. Buick Avista Wins EyesOn Design Award for Excellence

The first award that the Avista took was the EyesOn Design Award for Design Excellent in the Concept Car segment at NAIAS. With its sweeping, elegant lines, futuristic interior, and powerful twin-turbocharged V6 rated for 400 horsepower, the Buick Avista is everything that we hope to see in the grand tourers of the future. And, apparently, everything that the EyesOn Design Folks were looking for as well.

This was the second time that in a row that Buick has taken home the EyesOn Design Award for a concept vehicle. The first time was for the striking Avenir, which debuted last year at NAIAS.

Buick Avista Named Best Future Concept

In addition to impressing the judges at NAIAS, the Buick Avista also impressed standard car enthusiasts. It took the Detroit News’ Reader’s Choice award for “Best Future Concept.”

In a Buick press release, Bryan Nesbitt, executive director of global Buick design, said that that this people’s choice award was especially valuable. “Because Avista represents the future essence of Buick design,” he said in a recent Buick press release, “an award decided by consumers is a great vote of confidence.”

The previous Buick Avenir concept car brought visual concepts that migrated into other cars like the 2017 Buick LaCrosse. We can’t wait to find out what parts of the Buick Avista will transfer into future Buick vehicles.

Every year different ratings are released from various sources. Each year automotive companies work hard to get noticed by these influential publications. One of these lists is presented by the Consumer Reports’ Brand Report Card. This list is made up of the top 10 automotive brands on the market which means making the list is quite competitive. This year Buick enters the Consumer Reports’ Top 10 Brands at position 7.

This is the first time a domestic brand has made it into the top 10 of Consumer Reports’ annual Car Brand Report Card. It even jumped over Honda and BMW for the first time. Buick has been working hard to appeal to a younger audience of drivers, and it’s working to make Buick more popular than ever. Buick even revealed some new models in the last year such including the Buick Cascada convertible and Avenir luxury concept sedan. These new models are creating even more buzz about the Buick brand.

Consumer Reports is a highly respected publication and has been a credible source of information for decades. It has started recognizing Buick as a top 10 automotive brand thanks to everything Buick has accomplished in the past year. Buick has increased its sales significantly, especially with younger drivers. The magazine evaluated 270 vehicles as part of the Brand Report Card. They paid special attention to performance, reliability and safety.

2017 Chevy Silverado HD Diesel Technology

We have just heard our first snippet of information about the 2017 Chevy Silverado and it’s extremely exciting. We have already been impressed by the capability and fuel efficiency of the Duramax diesel engine on the 2016 Chevy Colorado. With the new model year, 2017 Chevy Silverado HD diesel technology will be making a giant step forward with a new air intake system.

With the new Chevy air intake on heavy duty trucks, Silverado drivers will be able to confidently drive and tow even more. The new system works by drawing relatively cool air in through a top intake, forcing it through filters and systems to remove any excess water, and then streaming it efficiently to the engine. With this refined air intake, the Duramax diesel engine on 2017 Silverado HD models should be able to hold onto power and speed better under many conditions, including heavy rain or highway slush.

There is no news yet on a Canadian release date for the 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, be we are excited about his new advanced air intake, which may also be appearing in the 2017 GMC Sierra Denali.

Other Advanced Chevy Technology

This new air intake is far from the first technological advance that will be available on Chevy models. In addition to new technology like a refined 10-speed transmission that was just release for the 2017 Camaro, Silverado heavy-duty models have previously enjoyed advances in digital steering, and advanced trailering camera systems. In Winnipeg, a Royal Winnipeg Rifles Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Vimy Ridge Memorial Park. It will be located at the memorial to the 44th Battalion of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. More information here.

Interested parties in Winnipeg that day are also able to give blood at the Canadian Blood Services location at 777 William Avenue. The drive will run from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.. Appointments can be made in advance. More information here.

As you know, devastating wildfires in Alberta have forced thousands of people to evacuate from their homes, especially in the Fort McMurray area. While dry conditions have also started fires in Manitoba, we haven’t seen nearly the same devastation as those evacuating in Alberta. General Motors has pledged to help the relief effort, and we wanted to put together a post offering ways to help people displaced by the Alberta wildfires.

Donate to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Fires Appeal

Large companies like our very own General Motors in Canada have been offering their support to help those displaced by the wildfires. GM Canada has pledged $100,000 to help with the relief effort, and is encouraging employees and dealerships like Craig Dunn Motor City to donate as well.

The Red Cross is already offering aid to those who have evacuated, and, as of posting, all individual donations are being matched by the Canadian government. If you would like to make a donation you can go to www.redcross.ca, call 1-800-418-1111, or contact your local Canadian Red Cross office.

Where Can I Find Emergency Resources?

If you are evacuating, the Alberta government has provided a page with information ranging from the locations of evacuation and reception centres, to how to be reunited with your pets or find your vehicle if you have had to abandon it. A full list of resources is available on the Alberta government website.

OnStar Crisis Assist Available for Alberta Refugees

All current OnStar customers in Fort McMurray area able to take advantage of the OnStar Crisis Assist system. Customers can contact emergency services by pressing the red SOS button in the OnStar control area in their vehicles. The OnStar in-car services are available in most new Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC vehicles.
