The trucks at this competition were carefully monitored for objective information, and also driven by many respected automotive journalists to get people’s personal impressions. Basic OnStar services with automatic crash response is even built into the new Chevy Equinox for the first six months. This service is capable of detecting certain crashes and notifying an OnStar Advisor who will contact you through the Equinox if you need help. Hydra-Matic 10-Speed Transmission Advantages

While an eight-speed automatic Hydra-Matic transmission was previously available on the 2016 Chevy Camaro (mated to the award-winning 3.6-litre V6 engine), the 2017 Camaro ZL1 will be the first volume production car to offer the 10-speed option. It will unite with a supercharged 6.2-litre LT4 engine to deliver an estimated blistering 640 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque.
This new automatic transmission offers extremely smooth, streamlined transitions and a wider gear ratio spread compared to previous transmissions. This automatic transmission also has smaller steps between gears, which helps the engine find and stay at the perfect pace for optimal speed and power, whether on the straightaway or in corners.

“There is simply nothing like the experience offered with the new 10-speed automatic in the Camaro ZL1,” said Aaron Link, ZL1 lead development engineer, in a recent Chevrolet press release. “It delivers nearly instantaneous, lightning-fast shifts that alter your perception of what an automatic transmission can offer in a high-performance vehicle – whether you’re on the street, drag strip or road course.”

The release of the 2016 Chevy Cruze in Canada is right around the corner, and GM has just released the prices we can expect for when the brand new Cruze hits our lot at Craig Dunn Motor City. While we still have some 2015 Chevy Cruze models, and select 2016 Cruze Limited sedans are already available, but the new Cruze will be going on sale this coming spring.

The 2016 Chevy Cruze will be available in base L, LS, LT, and elite Premier trim levels, each offering different features and advantages. Check the table below for exact prices for these trims. Each Cruze will be outfitted with a 1.4L turbo engine outfitted with direct-injection technology and rated for 153 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The LS and LT are available with either standard manual or optional automatic transmission, while the L is available only as a manual, and the Premier can only be had with automatic. The manufacturer-estimated fuel consumption rating is 5.9 L/100km with highway driving.

These MSRP prices do not include a $1,600 destination freight charge or other available add-on features, like forward collision alerts or Intellibeam headlights, and may vary depending on location. These prices are generally down from the cost of the 2015 Chevy Cruze, with the new Cruze LT automatic starting at $520 than in the previous year.

Features like standard seven-inch Chevy MyLink radio and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility are some of what have added so much value to the new incarnation of the Cruze, as well as increased rear knee room and a new style.

New GM OnStar Features

Many new and exciting innovations are being developed everyday, with many being presented at the Consumer Electronics show of 2015. These event is a time for companies to come together to show what new products they have been working on developing for the public. One major category of the event is vehicle technologies. Each brand comes out with different features and advancements. This time around GM and OnStar are at the center of the conversation with brand new GM OnStar features.

Last year GM made it possible to have 4G LTE in many of their new 2015 vehicles and now they are expanding on this technology. GM has already partnered with a variety of businesses including Dunkin’ Donuts, Parkopedia, RetailMeNot and Entertainment Book to help provide information while you are on the go. Pretty soon you will be able to use OnStar to make hotel reservations, find Dunkin’ Donuts locations and more!

The 2017 Buick LaCrosse debuts this week at the Toronto Auto Show. After making its first appearance at the LA Auto Show last year, this full-size luxury sedan will be making an even bigger splash here in Canada.

In addition to its unique new water-fall grille with tri-colored Buick badging, the new LaCrosse will be full of the latest features to make this elegant sedan one of the most comfortable and well-equipped Buicks yet. It will go on sale in North America this summer.

What’s New on the 2017 Buick LaCrosse?

New features on the 2017 Buick LaCrosse go far beyond the external. The 2017 model will weigh in at 136 kilograms lighter than its predecessor, thanks in part to advances in lighter sound-absorbing material and lighter-stronger steel in the frame.

In addition to acceleration and power savings thanks to that decreased weight, the 2017 Buick LaCrosse will get a new eight-speed automatic transmission matched to the second-generation 3.6-liter V6. Stop-start technology will come standard with this powertrain, and a Continuous Dampening Control active suspension will allow drivers to select Touring and Sport modes for an even more precise driving experience.

The 2017 Buick LaCrosse will also feature multiple new safety sensing features like the technology coming on the new Envision. Some of these include lane keeping assist, lane changing alert with blind spot assistance, parking assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic forward braking, forward collision alerts, and front pedestrian braking, which can, in some situations, automatically stop the car before hitting a person walking across the street.

The sleek and award-winning Avenir concept will also be on display at the Toronto Auto Show, along with the new 2016 Buick Envision.

Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Verano to have Sport Touring models for 2016

The Buick Encore is a stylish compact SUV that seats five and delivers on luxury features generally not seen outside of a larger SUV. We have the 2017 Buick Encore Canadian release date, and a sneak peek of some of the great features that are now standard in this maneuverable and luxurious Buick crossover.

2017 Buick Encore Canadian Release Date

Going on sale this fall in Canada and across North America, the 2017 Buick Encore will initially be available in five trim levels. Each model will come standard with front-wheel drive across the board, but all-wheel drive will be available as well. Trim levels will be base Encore (1SB), Sport Touring (1SH), Convenience (1SD), Leather (1SL) and Premium (1SN).

New Standard Features on the 2017 Encore

The 2016 Buick Encore is available with great standard features, but the 2017 model is upping the ante. An eight-inch colour touchscreen will now be standard, as well as keyless entry and ignition. Encore drivers will be able to enter their vehicle without needing to fumble with keys, as long as the keys are on their person. The ability to become a Wi-Fi hotspot should also be available in all models, and standard QuietTuning and Bose Noise Cancellation technology means less cabin noise from the road or engine.

Other exciting new features on the 2017 Buick Encore include:

• Refined front design with Buick’s new three-colour insignia
• Available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
• Enhanced front headlights and rear LED signature taillights
• Exterior colours: Black Cherry Metallic, Ebony Twilight Metallic and White Frost Metallic

The standard powertrain on the 2017 Buick Encore will be a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine offers a GM-estimated fuel consumption rating of 9.5 L/100km in city driving and 7.2 L/100km on the highway. An advanced, fuel-efficient turbo engine is also available on most trims. It should offer 8.5 L/100km city and 6.9 L/100km highway.

On Friday, November 11, the RCA Museum at CFB Shilo will also have an open house with free admission from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Adults (18+) will need to present a photo ID to enter the base. Please enter through the north gate if you are coming for Remembrance Day.

2016 Sierra Trailering Capability

We’ve known since last year that the 2016 Chevy Silverado was going to be available with premium towing features like a trailering camera system, but now we have good news about 2016 GMC Sierra towing features as well! Keep reading to learn more about the new technologies that will be available on North American models. They promise to enhance the already impressive 2016 Sierra trailering capability.

Sierra Trailering Camera System

The new Sierra Trailering Camera promises to help truck owners more easily tow and haul. They can also better keep an eye on their cargo. Developed with Echomaster, this camera and blind-spot detection system features two side-view cameras and a third designed to be attached to the back of the trailer. The view from these cameras shows up on the IntelliLink screen in the cabin. These cameras allow a much greater awareness of the driving environment. Later this summer, a forth camera option may be available to see inside the trailer. This system is available on the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 and heavy-duty models.

Fifth-Wheel Trailering Prep on the 2016 GMC Sierra

GMC Sierra HD models will also be available with a gooseneck/fifth-wheel trailering prep package. This option features a frame-mounted hitch platform and tray that can accept fifth-wheel hitch mounting brackets or a gooseneck ball hitch. When not needed, the hitch can be removed so that Sierra owners can use of their entire truck bed for hauling. When properly equipped with fifth-wheel trailering capability, a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD can tow up to 8,165 kilograms, and a 3500HD can haul between 7,938 kilograms and 10,523 kilograms, depending on whether it has single or dual rear wheels.

Offered on crew cab 2016 Sierra 1500 models with four-wheel drive and the SLT trim level, the All Terrain X package will include standard All Terrain Features like the Z71 Off-Road suspension package (which includes specialty monotube shocks, a high-capacity air cleaner, hill descent control, and an underbody shield for the transfer case), rear parking assistance, a spray-in bedliner, and an inclinometre in the driver information center. 2016 Chevy Malibu Release Date

Spring is a busy season for the automotive industry. There are various auto shows taking place, including the New York International Auto Show this April. The second annual Portage Potato Festival: Cabin Fever Reliever will be taking place Saturday February 14, 2015. It is being held at the Herman Prior Centre located at 40 Royal Road North, Portage la Prairie. The event will starts 8 p.m. and will go until 1 a.m. There will be a DJ, cash bar, silent auction and more for just $10 a ticket. Tickets can be purchased at Setsetera Studio of Design or Schapansky’s Florist. Last year, the event sold out so it’s important to get tickets as soon as possible! All the money raised goes back into the festival operating costs.

If you miss the Cabin Fever Reliever, don’t worry! There is also a summer festival to look forward to. It has taken place every August for the past 11 years. The whole idea of having different potato festivals came from a request that the city council made to the chamber of commerce.
