The 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Carhartt concept at SEMA 2016 combines powerful truck capability with the sensibility of the Carhartt jacket brand.

2017 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Carhartt Concept at SEMA 2016

The aesthetic of the 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Carhartt concept was based on hard work and can-do attitude. The no-nonsense Jet Black interior of this concept truck features signature Carhartt duck brown garment material as seat, armrest and door panel accents, and also features triple-stitched seams like on the jacket. That fabric is also used in the custom tonneau cover. This heavy-duty concept truck also features the Carhartt logo on the headrests and antique nickle-finish trim.

“Thousands of people go to work every day and earn their paycheck in a Chevy truck while wearing a Carhartt,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Truck marketing director, in a recent Chevy press release. “Those products’ durability and versatility earn respect and loyalty that’s passed on — and that’s exactly what this concept explores.”

Practical Work Features on the Silverado HD Carhartt Truck

Of course this concept truck isn’t just about looking good: it’s also about the dependability and quality that comes standard in every Silverado HD. This top-of-the-line concept also boasts features like a bed-mounted toolbox and swing-out tool chest, assist steps, perimeter bed lighting, trailering mirrors with an advanced camera system, a 20-inch LED light bar and electrical outlets in the bed.

2017 Chevy Colorado Powertrain Upgrades

When outfitted with the Duramax diesel engine, the Chevy Colorado can deliver some of the best fuel economy numbers in Canada. The new V6 and eight-speed automatic transmission are going to help give this truck better numbers on the gasoline end as well.

The new V6 engine will feature the same displacement (3.6-litres) as the previous engine on the 2016 Chevy Colorado, but will come equipped with variable valve timing, direct injection, and active fuel management. Fuel consumption numbers are not yet available, but this engine should be able to deliver 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque.

New Eight-Speed Automatic Transmission on the 2017 Colorado

The new class exclusive eight-speed Hydra-Matic 8L45 transmission will weight about the same as the outgoing 6L80 but will offer more confident towing, thanks to a wider overall gear ratio spread. This is the second elite transmission option Chevrolet has announced for its vehicles this year.

“The Colorado is currently the most fuel-efficient pickup truck in America, with an EPA-estimated 31 mpg highway when equipped with the diesel engine,” said Stan Ludlow, chief engineer for the 2017 Colorado, in a recent Chevrolet press release. “As such, for the new V6 and eight-speed combination we focused on improving everyday driving performance. Drivers will immediately notice that it pulls harder when accelerating from a stop or passing on the highway; it is more confident pulling a trailer up a steep grade and it is more refined cruising at a constant highway speed.”

The engine is a great balance of power and efficiency, with all three trim levels offering a fuel economy rating of 15/22 MPG city/highway, with a fuel tank capacity of 22.0 gallons. That means that you’ll be able to drive 440 highway miles before your gas light comes on, which is notable considering the SUV’s size. As if those engine specs weren’t impressive enough, the powerful V6 engine allows the 2017 Enclave to tow up to 4,500 pounds when equipped with the trailering package.

This powertrain offers 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. No news yet on what kind of numbers were looking at, but overall the Sierra delivered on excellent performance in all the most important categories. The 2016 GMC Sierra named Texas Truck Showdown Towing Champion is just the latest example of GMC vehicles taking home top awards for quality performance.

The Canadian Truck King Challenge is a grueling test where all the best trucks and commercial vans of Canada are pitted against each other and against a 70-acre proving ground north of Toronto made up of rocky and hilly terrain and rough roads, ideal for testing the mettle of even the sturdiest vehicles.

In the midsize truck category, the 2016 GMC Canyon Diesel was required to pull 4,000 pounds (1814 kilograms) and haul a payload of 1,000 pounds (453 kilograms) in its bed. The Canyon passed these test with flying colors to take the midsize truck king’s crown, and also came in as a runner up for best overall truck.

2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid Release Date

In a previous post, we talked about the upcoming 2016 Chevy Malibu, but there is also another edition coming out. This model is a hybrid version of that very vehicle. This new vehicle will use advanced technology to get impressive fuel economy and more! Let’s see what we know so far about the 2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid release date.

The 2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid actually uses technology from the Chevy Volt. It gets an estimated average of 4.9 city/5.2 highway L/100km, which is really impressive. The 2016 Malibu is making its first appearance at the New York International Auto Show this month. It will be powered by a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine and will get a maximum 182 horsepower. This engine will also be paired with an 80-cell, 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that will allow this hybrid to go up to 88 km per hour on electricity alone. The Malibu Hybrid will be produced in Kansas City, Kansas and will arrive in dealerships in spring 2016.

How to avoid pothole damage

The best way to prevent potholes from damaging your vehicle is to avoid hitting the pothole altogether, but we realize that may not always be possible. If you do identify a pothole, it’s important to try to maneuver out of the way, but make sure you check your surroundings before changing lanes or slamming on the brakes. If hitting the pothole is unavoidable, we recommend slowing down as much as possible prior to hitting it and rolling through the pothole rather than rapidly braking.

Z/28 Package on the 1967 Chevy Camaro

The first generation of the Chevy Camaro released for the 1967 model year was available with multiple factory and trim options, and three main packages. The RS package was mainly appearance based, and the SS offered a 5.7-liter V8 engine and specialty exterior touches, but the Z28 was on another level completely.

Designed to perfectly integrate into the Trans-Am road-racing series, the 1967 Chevy Camaro Z28 package included a specialized chassis and suspension system and a unique 4.9-liter V8 engine that came in just under the maximum engine displacement limits for the Trans-Am races. Matched to a Muncie four-speed manual transmission, that engine was rated for 290 horsepower (just slightly over the lowest available horsepower on the current 2016 Chevy Camaro), though that may have been a deliberate under-estimation by Chevrolet. The actual maximum horsepower for the 1987 Camaro Z28 was probably between 360 and 400 horses. This specialty package option also include front disc brakes, unique tires, and racing stripes. It had sport-car handling and breathless performance.

Only 600 1967 Camaro Z28 Models Produced

While production numbers for the RS and SS packages respectively were around 64,800 and 34,400 models for the 1967 model year, only about 600 models of the 1967 Chevy Camaro Z28 were produced. That means while collectors can generally find a used first-generation Camaro for less-than the MSRP for a new model, the rare and valuable Z28 is much pricier and hard to find. In comparison, the 2019 Toyota Tundra only offers two engine options: a 4.6-liter Aluminum i-FORCE V8 engine (310-hp / 327 lb.-ft. torque) and a 5.7-liter Aluminum i-FORCE V8 engine (381-hp / 401 lb.-ft. torque). When properly equipped, the new 2019 Toyota Tundra offers a maximum towing capacity of 10,100 pounds (4581.3 km).
